Strike Jax Project

So excited about Strike Jax. A community project started by Rocco Catucci. Rocco and I have been working hard to get this project in full swing. We have collected used bowling pins and asking artists to make them into a piece of art. We have received some amazing pieces. On June 1st there will be a silent auction and gala at my studio. Studio 121 @ 121 Forsyth St. All of the proceeds will benefit Wolfsen Children's Emergency Clinic.

Pears

Pears are my passion.  I love drawing the human figure.  They have a lot in common and each one is shaped slightly different from the other with a variety of color.  This gives them a "Pear"sonality.
"Retro Pear", 48X48 on wood is mixed media, acrylics and collage.  She looks like she wants to go dancing.
"Pearsona" 38X30, acrylic on yupo.  This one is similar to "Pears".  I wanted to try to get the same effect with layering as I do on wood so I used transparent yupo paper which is very similar to vellum. I painted and stamped on both sides giving it more depth and texture.

"Transpearance" 28X36, acrylics on transparent yupo.  This one was completed in the same manner as "Pearsona"
"Pears" 48X48 mixed media on wood was my first in this series and my favorite.  It seems to brighten up an area wherever it hangs.  Did I tell you that I make my own papers from rust?  I love it!

"Expeariment" and "Expeariment II" acrylic on yupo are exactly that, an experiment.
These were two small pourings that I had tucked away.  I pulled them out and painted around them
to make these luscious pears.

"Pearsonality", "Appearant" and "Pearfect", each 12X12 on canvas.
These mixed media pieces are a little more that a 2D work of art.
I actually used artificial pears that were cut in half.  So fun.
