Pears

Pears are my passion.  I love drawing the human figure.  They have a lot in common and each one is shaped slightly different from the other with a variety of color.  This gives them a "Pear"sonality.
"Retro Pear", 48X48 on wood is mixed media, acrylics and collage.  She looks like she wants to go dancing.
"Pearsona" 38X30, acrylic on yupo.  This one is similar to "Pears".  I wanted to try to get the same effect with layering as I do on wood so I used transparent yupo paper which is very similar to vellum. I painted and stamped on both sides giving it more depth and texture.

"Transpearance" 28X36, acrylics on transparent yupo.  This one was completed in the same manner as "Pearsona"
"Pears" 48X48 mixed media on wood was my first in this series and my favorite.  It seems to brighten up an area wherever it hangs.  Did I tell you that I make my own papers from rust?  I love it!

"Expeariment" and "Expeariment II" acrylic on yupo are exactly that, an experiment.
These were two small pourings that I had tucked away.  I pulled them out and painted around them
to make these luscious pears.

"Pearsonality", "Appearant" and "Pearfect", each 12X12 on canvas.
These mixed media pieces are a little more that a 2D work of art.
I actually used artificial pears that were cut in half.  So fun.

Non Representational Work

"Light", "Slipper" and "Grace", 12X16 mixed media on mat and canvas are three small subjects working with form and light.  They are simple yet speak volumes.

"Universal Quest"  32X40 watercolor on paper came about after working
with shapes and symbols.  Many of the techniques that I used were a result of taking a workshop with John Salminem.
"Geometric Dreams" is an older piece and one of my first non representational works. It was an intuitive process and hard for me at first.  Now I have a passion for it.

"Crudezza"  26X29 collage on mat board.
I am collage inspired after working with Eydi Lamposana

"Beneath" 32X40 mixed media on mat and wood.
This was one of my first pieces after returning from Italy. The top is a collage of all my travels and I incorporated my rust papers below.
"Chemistry Class" 32X40 collage and watercolor. This was completed in a John Salminen workshop.
It was a great class but I struggled for a while.  John said that he became an artist because chemistry
was too hard.  So goes the name:)

"Crocifisso" 23X29 mixed media on paper and "Tuscan Madonna" 26X29 mixed media on paper
were painted in Italy while working with Sherry O'Neil and staying at a wine vinyard.
I can't say enough about that experience, the food and the wine.

Landscapes

"Mystic Voice" 36X48 on wood is a mixed media on wood.  Layers of paint, collage, medium and love went into this piece.  As you can see, the Florida landscape is my focus.
"Tall Pines"  36X48 mixed media on wood is another sight I never tire of.

"Cummer Gardens" an older simple watercolor.
"Lazaretto Creek" 24X48 oil on canvas captures the setting sun over one of my favorite spots at Tybee.

"Marsh" is a 45X36 mixed media triptych on canvas. Inspired by my stays as Tybee with its sudden summer storms and beautiful marshes.
"Under the Oaks" is one of my personal interpretational paintings with an enviromental suggestion

"Beauty Within" is the first painting in my series of enviromental themes. Mixed media, 48X36 on wood.  I love the process.  It starts off as a realistic piece and after much layering of paint and medium and sanding between layers it is pushed back and melded into the surface.
"Scrub Palms" was completed in much the same way except it is on a 20X48 canvas which is very tricky when trying to use a rotary sander.

Others

"Avocado Seed" is a 12X36 triptych on canvas, mixed media with found objects. I was inspired by my avocado seed growing in my kitchen window.
"Figure Class" is a 26X38 mixed media on mat board with transfers from drawings in my figure class.

"Angel" is a 12X12 collage on canvas with tissue transfer
"In a Japanese Garden" watercolor on paper is an older work of mine long gone but I still love it.

Nightlife in Jax

The following paintings are all inspired by the light of night.
Artificial light and moonlight set the stage for warm, glowing colors and
strong values.  Most of these were done on yupo paper with fluid acrylics.
I like yupo because it keeps its true colors.
